First test of the MS.00 Markusnet on board the yacht Silver Lady.

This operation was done by one rescuer.

Equipment: MS.00 Markusnet with 120 m attachment line between yacht, and the inner end of the Markusnet, and with 25 m buoyant throw-line on the outer end. A treble block hoisting system fastened to safety halyard from centre of the mast.

This unit comes now standard with 14 m attachment line. In this case it was 120 m as we were measuring how long time it took the 100 metre line to run out if we were sailing steady at 5 miles an hour. We found out that the 100 m line ran out within 1 minute.

Based on the fact that person in panic does not allow the system to be pull towards him we recommend that the mean of recovery is kept ready on board. Instead a 8 mm dia buoyant rope with float, loop and few knots at the far end, is released from the boat from a reel and pulled after the boat as it is circled around the casualty up wind.
